EDUCATION IS A PERSONAL COMPETENCE

The custom of defining education as a fast, materialistic and competitive process is wrong.

Many parents try to rush their children’s educational program without considering the process. Surely you have noticed the typical mentality of going through the educational system to obtain a degree, but not to really value the learning process.

This demand on education is frequent. An example of this are those parents who want their children to learn a new language quickly, ignoring the process, and is that despite the fact that at the beginning it is slow, after a while the student develops a sense of adaptation.

In fact, the learning process is easier in a child than in an adult, mainly because the child is a blank sheet ready to fill each paragraph of her life with new knowledge.

Virtual education was born under this thought, basically because it focuses on the assessment of the educational process, where the space does not matter, it is the student’s development and their relationship with education that matters.

To achieve this objective, autonomy is necessary and this aspect is offered by virtual education, where without many geographical limitations, the student can determine the pace of their learning, streamline the processes and stop at those knowledge that deserve more study time.

This concept is well defined in the phrase of the marathoner Kathrine Switzer, who says: “It is not about running fast, but about finishing the race.”

It could be easily applied with education, it is not about finishing a school year slower or faster, education is not a competition, it is a process. If we were talking about competition, it would be a personal race, where the participant tries to overcome each of those intellectual and emotional limits.

In our institution we know this, for this reason we focus on an educational model adapted to the needs of our students, where each one can feel autonomous and with a sense of belonging when it comes to their education.

At LATAM we know that it doesn’t matter if you go fast or slow, the important thing is that you go at your own pace and be able to achieve the goal of obtaining an international American baccalaureate degree.
