Access to information and communication technologies in a simple way has had a great influence on our society, especially in the educational field.
Within these communication and information technologies (ICTs) we have virtual platforms.
Virtual platforms
A virtual educational platform is a computer environment that contains a series of tools where students, teachers, representatives and directors of a school can perform all the functions of a normal school: enrollment, classes, grades, activities, meetings, etc. In a virtual way.
Virtual platforms are known as LMS, IMS, EVEA, LCMS. At LATAM Global School we use an LMS (Learning Management System) platform, which in Spanish means “learning management system”.
This type of platform uses various resources and tools that allow to establish all the elements of a face-to-face class in a virtual way.
What are the characteristics of LMS platforms?
Interaction
LMS platforms are made to allow user interaction. For each lesson, users must interact in certain ways to begin their learning process, this dynamic way is what guarantees the success of the platform.
Scalability
There is not a limited number of users, but these grow according to need, since it is possible to increase the number of users without losing the quality of teaching. Something very different than in face-to-face environments, since personalized learning is taught in the LMS.
Flexible
It adapts to all types of courses, both for those who create the course and those who study it.
Omnipresence
The courses on LMS platforms can be consulted anywhere in the world and at any time, from any device with Internet access.
There are different types of LMS, today we just want to tell you about their meaning and importance. Later we will tell you more about this type of educational platform.
